The Cold and Structured Work of Brian Sylvester

Are you kidding me?

I received a puzzling “critique” over the past week, and while I can understand the STRUCTURED part of it, for the life of me, I can’t figure out where the COLD came from.  True, I come from an industry in which uniformity was a must, but when was 16 hectares of flora ever cold?

It’s okay, because I have made a running joke out of it all week – telling myself that I really need to start using some bright colors and so forth.  It has also given me an extended appreciation for what I do and the direction that I am going.

Artwork is subjective, and what is striking to one person, may be shit to the other.  The fact that my work produced a strong reaction from someone, spells success to me.

So, a very special “thank you” goes out to Mr. C.  Thanks for keeping me humble and confirming that I am on the right path.

Today was spent getting ready for this Sunday’s market.  I have SLASHED the prices on all of my canvases in celebration of the changing seasons.  My Etsy shop has also been updated with my most recent work.  If you haven’t been for a while, please take a look at the page in gallery view.  It will give you a good sense of the direction my work is going.
There has been a lot of progress with the chair this week, but there is still much more to do.  I have 2 or 3 weeks to get things wrapped up and will not allow myself to commit to another group of canvases until this project is done.  That gives me plenty of incentive!
The evolution continues, and I’m sure there will be some changes and revelations made as the piece nears the end.
I want to thank all of you who took the time to watch our interview towards the beginning of the week.  We are both curious as to whether or not it will lead to any action at this Sunday’s market.  We shall see.
A special welcome goes out to all of my new followers.  I update every Thursday, so please stop back by to see what has happened in the week previous.
Have a great weekend, all!
