Stepping Away to Step Forward
Sometimes the best way to figure out what you have been missing or where you need to go is to pull yourself away from your normal setting and routine. Gabriella and I had a great trip to Brattleboro, Vermont this past weekend, and I came back with a fresh sense of purpose.
I have lived in many different places during my lifetime and am no stranger to an urban setting. However, when in such a setting for an extended period of time, I start to miss the open green spaces, the water, the mountains and the wildlife. Vermont has all of that.
Brattleboro has a vibrant and very receptive arts community. We stayed in the Latchis Hotel and Theater, which is a work of art in itself, and I was very pleased to discover the work of Shannon McGough, who currently has an exhibit in the Latchis’ main gallery space, which also happens to be the main theater. The Brattleboro Arts Initiative is doing an excellent job at making this historic landmark a premiere destination for the arts.
Back in the studio, I have been working on some new Mini Mandalas in preparation for Artbeat in July and other future markets. Compared to last year’s market season, this one has been pretty slow. I have tried to focus my marketing efforts in other areas, and it has paid off. Either way, it takes a lot of time away from the studio.
Next week, I will have some new work to show you as well as some other projects that I have in the pipeline. Until then, have a great weekend!
