Towards the Dog Days of Summer

I started the week off by boxing up and shipping the Slice panel.  It's a piece that I am very connected to, but I was happy to know that it was going to a great home in Eugene, Oregon.

The day prior, I found a discarded piece of plywood in the trash area just opposite my studio.  One of the artists on the first floor had moved out, so there was a lot of materials to be shifted through.  It was perfect to find a 24" x 48" panel just waiting for rebirth.

It looks like it had been used as some type of table top or spray area, and I was very happy to start into it with the stain blocker and gesso.  This will make the third piece that I am doing of this size, and I can't wait to see where it's going to take me.

Artbeat is just about 4 weeks away, and I have very little time to get my inventory in order.  My goal is to have 30 or so of my Mini Mandalas, two tee shirt design offerings, and a good selection of my larger canvases.  Typically, mid July is very hot and humid here, so the day could go either way.  Either people are going to be out and about, or they aren't.

Miss G and I are taking a much needed break this weekend and heading to Vermont, which happens to be one of my favorite spots in the world.  We will be visiting Brattleboro, which just happens to be an up and coming arts community, so as you can imagine, it's going to be a working weekend as well.  I will have a full report next week with plenty of photos to share with you.
