What's New?

It's almost the middle of June, and half the year has slipped away already.  Here in New England, we skipped right over spring, and are now in the middle of a typical summer heat wave.

There has been a lot of activity in the studio over the past week, and the next big event on the calender is Artbeat on July 16.

Until then, I have been finishing up some commission work:

I showed you the start of this table a couple of weeks ago.  This week, the clients and I came to the decision about the final color palette for the top, and I was able to complete most of the final design.

There is still a lot of touch up and finish work left to do, but I finally have a clear view as to what the final piece is going to look like, and I think it's going to look great!  I hope to have it finished in a week or so.

Today, I took the Slice panel down from its place of prominence outside of my studio door.  I created this piece for open studios last November, and since then, it has remained one of my favorite pieces.  At the time, it represented a departure from the work I had been doing in the early part of 2010.  I am pleased to announce that it was sold and will be taking up residence in Eugene, Oregon.  I am pleased beyond words that this piece will finally be going to a good home.

For those of you that haven't seen it, the progression of photos from the creation of Slice can be found here in my Flickr album.

A lot of tee shirts have been shipped over the past week, and the inventory is going fast.  As of this writing, I have 4 smalls, 6 mediums and 1 large left.  There was only a limited number of this first design produced, so if you haven't gotten yours yet, I suggest that you jump on it.  I have been very pleased with the positive reaction to the shirts so far and am looking forward to the next group, which will be something completely different.

You can order your shirt here.

I want to give a very special Thank You to all of you who have given me commission work, ordered tee shirts, and have purchased my work in general.  Your support allows me to continue doing what I truly love to do, which is paint full time.

I also want to thank and welcome all of my new blog followers as well as Twitter and Facebook fans.  For those of you that don't know, I update this blog each and every Thursday, and it has always been my goal to keep everyone informed and involved.  Thank you for taking part!

Have a great weekend, everyone, and see you next Thursday!

  3. Hi dear Brian,
the table looks so wonderful. I think, that there is all your art in it. Only a shame that
on this peace of art is standing one day a glass
    of beer.. Anyway that's life..
    All your news are great!!
    Wish you a lovely sunday.

  4. Monika,

I'm hoping that the finished table will have a piece of glass to protect the top so that it will be protected from tall menacing beers!

Maybe your package arrives this week? Keep a look out for it.

    Have a great week!
    Brian
