We woke up to a fresh blanket of snow the other morning here in Rutland. Vermont in the winter is one of my favorite things, and being greeted with fresh snow after only a short time here is a welcome start to things.
Tonight, Miss G and I went to the opening reception at the Chaffee Art Center. Not only was it the reception for the Winter All Members' Show, but it was also awards night for the gingerbread house contest which they hold every year. It was very festive to see the little town of gingerbread houses nestled beneath the fine art on the walls, and everyone was in full holiday spirits.
The second Friday of every month is Arthop here in Rutland, and Gabriella and I made the rounds of all the other galleries to introduce ourselves and talk with the other artists from the area. Everyone here has been open and very giving so far, and I feel very much at home.
My studio space is still in disarray, but I am very close to getting back into work mode. In just a week and a half, we have managed to get most of the house in order, and now our focus is getting back to work. By next Thursday, I hope to have to new work to show you.
Until then, thank you for stopping by, and have a great weekend!

Vermont looks nice! It seems to be a place where people are close and generous.
ReplyDeleteI hope this city can propose you both prosperity and great work environment.
Wish you Happy Holidays!!
Hugs.
B-must be a good feeling to attend your first opening; join in the fun (madness??) of the Gingerbread House competition; and to be welcomed by others as you tour the galleries. Glad you feel like you are feeling at home. We finished the rough draft of a big report today - so now feel a weight is lifting a bit and now can think more of NY - will be in touch to make some plans. Food, friendship and good wine is the basic plan - just need to work out the details. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteCrissant,
ReplyDeleteVermont has been treating us well so far! We are almost three weeks here, and we are finally getting settled in and back to work.
We both wish you all the best for the holidays as well!
Hugs to you,
Brian
Barry,
ReplyDeleteG and I are looking forward to your visit! We are currently almost a 5-hour drive from Manhattan, but we are also on the Amtrak train line. As the time gets closer, we will have to come up with a plan. Food, fun and good wine is just what the doctor ordered!
I hope you and Fiona have happy holidays!
Brian
