Another Fine Week

I was very happy that it decided to rain today.  For me, that meant that there was no outside work, and I was able to spend the whole day in the studio.

I've been working on a series of 18" x 24" wood panels, and today I finished up most of the third one.  There is some touch up work and varnishing to do, but at least I was able to get it up on the wall so I could get a sense on how the three look together.  I'm pleased so far.

I have a fourth panel to get started on, then I will make the determination as to whether or not I will go beyond that number.  As it stands, I am thinking a nice series of 10 would be a good goal to shoot for.

The last photo above shows the three hanging next to a pair of my 24" x 24" canvases just to give you a sense of their size.

In case you missed it, my newest post on the Wall Spin art blog is all about Gouache.  I'm curious if any of you are familiar with or use Gouache.  I would love to hear your thoughts!

Miss G and I are heading to Vermont this weekend.  New England is known for its fall foliage this time of the year, and Vermont is famous for the beautiful display that the native timbers put on every year.  I will share photos with you in next Thursday's post.

Until then, I hope all is well with each and every one of you.  Thank you for taking the time to stop by.  I do appreciate it!

Have a great weekend!

The Week's Work and Hopes For the Future

A very short post just to give you an update of my work in the studio this week.  The focus has been on the third 18" x 24" wood panel.  As you can see by the above photo, I have a forth one all set and ready to go as soon as I finish the current one.  Once the four are done, I will make a determination as to whether or not I will include the whole lot in a series.  So far, so good!

The finished panels as well as all of my other current inventory can be found in my online shop.

I apologize for such a short post and my lack of visits to all your personal blogs.  It's been very busy here, and as soon as things settle down a bit, I promise to get back into the routine.

Until next Thursday, have a wonderful weekend everyone!  Thank you for stopping by!

Observation and Collaboration

Due to some part-time work that I have been picking up, my recent posts and studio time have both been a little abbreviated.  The good news is that I am still able to slip in and still get pieces completed.  Today I finished up the second in a series of 18" x 24" wood panels that I am doing.  I did some preliminary sketching on the third one and can't wait to see where it takes me.

In other news, the mandala project that I have been working on with Shana Goetsch  from Art That Cirlces The Earth is in it's second phase.

Shana is an artist/educator located in Baltimore, Maryland, and her mandala collaboration endeavor is a brilliant idea, and it's focus is to bring artist together from around the globe.  I am proud to be involved and excited to seeing where she takes it.

If you aren't familiar with her or her work, please take a look at the ATCTE blog or her other art blog.  Thank you, Shana, for all that you do for the art world!

Finally, my newest post on the Wall Spin blog is all about the art of observation.  As artists, why do we do what we do?  This post explores that question, and I hope it leads to further discussion.

Until next Thursday, I want to wish each and every one of you a fabulous weekend.  Thank you for taking the time to stop by here and give me your undying support, I do appreciate all of you!

Studio Report 2011 - Week 36

It's been another productive week in the studio.  As the day temperatures become cooler, it becomes much easier to relax and paint.  This is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I am looking forward to the autumn and the winter.

I have a couple days left of work on this panel, and then I can get started on the next one.

My guest post on Wall Spin this week discusses how artists use their mediums to deal with tragic situations.
One of my favorite artists on the web, Harry Kent, recently has been doing a series exploring the nuclear disaster in Japan, and his work fit perfectly into the post.

Until next Thursday, I want to thank all of you for taking the time to stop by here.  I appreciate your encouragement, support and your comments.  I could not do it without you!  Have a great weekend!

A New Month and A New Panel

Happy September 1st everyone!  There are only 4 short months left until the end of the year and I've got a lot of work to squeeze in before then.  So far, so good!

Time was spent in the studio this week working on a new 18" x 24" wood panel.  As I have said before, I really like working on wood.  I also like this size too.

I am satisfied with the progress so far and hope to have it wrapped up before next Thursday's post.

This week over at the Wall Spin Blog, I expanded on two new topics: Murals and Summer Art Reading.

I have always been in awe of the mastery of mural making, and there are a lot of good art books out there on the shelves, so please check these posts out.

Until next Thursday's post, you can always catch my daily updates on my Facebook Page or on Twitter.  I often post photos that don't make it to this blog.  Please take a peek if you can.

Have a great weekend, everyone, and thank you for stopping by!
