Rites of Spring
This week here in Vermont, we had a stretch of unseasonably hot weather. It was in the upper 80s (26.6C), which is unheard of for this time of the year. I think the snow is done for the year, but if you look closely at the photos above, you can still see a little strip of the white stuff at the top of the mountain.
With the change in the weather and the arrival of the Spring Equinox, there come many opportunities to go outside and be inspired at all the beauty that surrounds us.
Most of my paintings have a direct influence from the natural world, and now that I am in new surroundings here in Vermont, I'm sure the work will slowly evolve and go in a new direction. While I can't force this to happen, I can feel it coming on and look forward to it.
Along with all of my other art-related projects, I continue to do regular guest writing over at the Wall Spin blog. This week, the discussion is about small works of art, and why some might prefer them over something on a larger scale. I hope you enjoy it!
I hate to be repetitive, but I still have a few tee shirts left from my most recent run. They are limited in number, so if you haven't gotten one yet, now is the time, as they won't last for long!
Thanks to those of you who have ordered and received a shirt! If you would, please send me a photo of you modeling it, so I can feature you in an upcoming post.
Until next week, I wan't to thank all of you for stopping by and giving me your support, it means a lot to me!
Have a great weekend!

Love the photos~~Spring (or Summer) is here too with trees blooming and blossoms gone. Now it's to frost....Indiana....
ReplyDeleteI love small works of art. There is nothing nicer than groupings on the wall. And I've found personally I can get a lot in a small space, and I am happy with it.
XXOO~~
Anne
Anne,
DeleteI'm happy to know that a pair of my small works grace your home. It's truly an honor!
I hope all has been well with you, and I send you lots of warmth.
Take care,
Brian
how beautiful is your world - i had family from norway who lived in readsboro when i was growing up... that landscape is one i love deeply... this year has really 'thrown me'... seems we went from autumn to spring without much of a winter - as a creature used to 4 seasons, i am trying to get my mind to accept that it is indeed march... i love that small work... will head over to the other blog... and one good thing about warmer temps is getting to wear the t-shirt - see, there's a positive!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your weekend...
Maire,
DeleteYes, it's a beautiful world, but it rushes by and is very hectic at times!
Like you, I prefer 4 true, defined seasons. Lately, that has not been the case for a lot of us.
Thank you for representing with the shirt, please send me a photo if you can!
Namaste,
Brian
B-how stunning - you are having about the same temps as we are having down under - except at the moment we have a lot of clouded and wet skies. You seem to have a number of new things bubbling away creatively - great to see. And it can't be all bad to be influence by nature in what you are doing. Like MJ I will check out the other blog on small things. Go well. B
ReplyDeleteBarry,
DeleteIn Vermont, it's "mud" season now, and at times, a lot of the back roads become too wet and muddy to pass. Since we don't own a tank, we now know to steer clear on our excursions. Summer will be here soon enough!
As you know, my schedule will be changing here soon, and I look forward to re-evaluating how I get things done. I will have a report for you very soon. Until then, give my best to Fiona.
Be well and take care,
Brian
Hi Brian, beautifull landscape by you...
ReplyDeleteLaura,
DeleteIt is very beautiful here, and I'm sure your surrounding are just as beautiful! I always enjoy the photos that you post of your home.
Thank you for stopping by!
Have a great weekend,
Brian
